About the Author
John Benson a native Minnesotan, grew up in Northeast Minneapolis. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and St. Thomas University. Other than a 100 page autobiography written for his son, he had never written a book. Indeed, his writing experience had been limited to business proposals and very short pieces of satire.
A chance discovery of a rusty, 1934 license plate in Swan Lake, near Pengilly, MN created a mystery in his mind which led him to write his first book, Swan Scream.
The success of Swan Scream led him to write subsequent books, including Scout Scream, Swan Dive, and his first full novel, Sweet Serendipity from Darkness into Light.
Benson’s books, thus far, have been set in the first half of the 1900s. A history buff, he has carefully crafted his writings to reflect the economic and historical events of the period. His intent is to both entertain and enlighten his readers with a true representation of the environment in which his characters lived and worked.
Benson and his wife, Sharon, split their time between their summer home on Swan Lake and Phoenix, Arizona. In addition to his new hobby of writing, Benson enjoys carpentry, cooking, golf, and lake related activities.
